More snarky CD release news

It's over yonder. It's kinda funny again, I think. But then again, my sense of humor is hopelessly warped.

the real question is, how's the record?

cool. keep these suggestions coming. have you heard 'panda bear'? very weird, but cool. kinda getting into 'arctic monkeys'--the band, not the north pole simian pastime.

i've listened to panda bear. i like it. sort of a cross between the beach boys and spiritualized. not a big arctic monkeys fan, though. don't hate 'em. just haven't really got into them...

Which one, Curtis? The Junkies? It's actually been hard to find reviews. I guess folks have written them off at least one album too soon. Here's what Thom Jurek wrote on Allmusic.com:

"As a result, the band, particularly Margo, follows (songwriter Michael Timmons) down the muddy rabbit hole and extend itself as well. In other words, this is not a typical — and there is such a thing as a typical — Cowboy Junkies recording. The difficult tension is in unpeeling the way human foibles such as greed, lust, conflict, power and anger influence and impact the family, and is reflected here with a poetic grace and gritty realism wrapped inside expressionistic musical portraits and a series of melodies and lyric lines that shift meaning as the album continues. It's an astonishing exercise, really."
