Good Giada almighty

I don't have the Food Network. So my only exposure (huh-huh) to Giada De Laurentiis was through, really, a spread on her in Esquire a few months back. It's where the (hot) picture below came from.

With that Italian name, and her European-style, umm, roundiness, I expected a thick, sultry accent. So imagine my surprise, nay disappointment, when I saw her do a guest spot on "Today" late last week, and she's got this almost squeaky, very American voice.

So the fantasy may be dead. But her cooking, I still expect, is exquisite. Who needs an Italian accent when you can cook the perfect penne, right?
