Jose can you..., er, hear?

A couple of years ago, I was interviewing Ashton Allen, who was pretty clearly a thoughtful, curious musician. So I asked him who he was listening to, who hadn't really broken out yet. He gave me two names: Matt Costa and Jose Gonzalez.

Costa's album he had demo'ed in a record store, and it was one of the few times he was compelled to listen to every track. Who was this Gonzalez guy, I asked. "Do you not know him?" he said. "He is like Nick Drake reincarnated."

God bless you, Ashton. Both picks were rock solid. Gonzalez is dropping a new single from his latest record, "In Our Nature." The song, "Killing For Love," features a b-side called "Neon Lights." Here are his upcoming Southern tourdates.
